Nestled in the stunning Vere valley, Bozat, our beautifully renovated 600 year-old farmhouse sits among some of the loveliest countryside, towns and medieval villages, and close to some of the most inspiring gorges and valleys in France.

Bozat is close to the edge of the Gresigne Forest, one of the largest and oldest forests in Europe, said to have been planted by Louis XIV. The countryside has sunflowers and vineyards in abundance and is a walkers paradise.

The House is featured as the central location along with local medieval village Castelnau de Montmiral in the production of a new film ‘Now Retired’ premiered this summer and starring Malcolm Rennie and Simon Dutton. It is about a British Spy who retires and goes to live in ‘a beautiful part of the Tarn’.

The Gite (Tarn Owls)

<a href="http://www.tarnowls.com/photos/video5.wmv"target="_blank">Click to view Tarn Owls video

Warm summer evenings in a beautiful, tranquil setting with views across the adjacent vineyard to the local medieval village encourage the enjoyment of outdoor eating until late most evenings.

Tarn Owls is so called because of the Little Owls who live in the loft.

Tarn Owls with its own exclusive entrance is the only part of the house that is let to guests (and only one letting at a time) – so you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of an exclusive tenancy. Full details on Tarn Owls Page

Wine Region

Tarn Owls benefits from its position within the Gaillac wine region which produces good sparkling, white, rosé and red wines. With over 120 vineyards to choose from we shall be happy to suggest the best vineyards where you can have free tasting of the wines you enjoy.

Castelnau de Montmiral

Local Villages

The nearby medieval village of Castelnau de Montmiral has two restaurants and it lies within the sought–after triangle formed by the towns of Albi, Gaillac and medieval Cordes-sur-Ceil which offer relaxation and a wealth of history.

There are several medieval bastide towns within a short drive. Most villages have a weekly market and in summer most villages have festivals, fetes and concerts. This is an excellent opportunity to experience genuine French rural life at its best. Much more on Local Area/Interest Page

Active or relaxing holidays

Whether you want an active or a relaxing holiday, this part of the Tarn in south-west France is the perfect venue – and Tarn Owls the perfect place to start from.

Kayaking down the Gorges, walking the national and local walking tracks amongst stunning scenery, horse riding, golf, cycling (the Tour de France loves these hills and valleys –stages in recent years have taken place at Albi and Gaillac) or swimming, relaxing by the pool or simply driving around this beautiful countryside exploring towns and villages that have hardly changed in centuries – sitting in a medieval square with a coffee or a glass of wine – it’s all here, waiting for you to enjoy.

Wild orchid in the gardens

Birds and other wildlife

The local area abounds in bird life, and bird watchers are rarely disappointed. Apart from our own family of Little Owls in the roof, there are hoopoes, golden orioles, buzzards, eagles, and many others.

The Gresigne Forest is home to deer, hares, red squirrels and wild boar, which you may well be lucky enough to see close up if you walk on the many trails through the forest.

You might prefer a peaceful, calm holiday to help you unwind. Tarn Owls itself at Bozat is a peaceful hamlet of rural seclusion. The extensive grounds are home to wild flowers in Spring including orchids. Tarn Owls is only a few minutes drive from the medieval village of Castelnau de Montmiral, fifteen minutes drive from the old market town of Gaillac and under an hour from Toulouse city centre, and airport.

Its easy to get here

From the UK Easyjet, BA, Jet 2, Flybe, BmiBaby, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, Alitalia, Iberian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Aer Lingus fly to Toulouse. Carcassone and Rodez are a little further and served by Ryanair. Calais is about 12 hours drive.
